COLIN FIRTH is set to be made a ‘Sir’, aka handed a knighthood, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, which comes out in June.
The government has confirmed to the Daily Mail that honours discussions have taken place about The King’s Speech star at Cabinet Office level, one of the last steps in the process by which candidates for knighthoods go forward.

Colin: [on Mamma Mia] I think it’s one of the best things I have ever done. People expect me to apologize for it and I am completely unapologetic. Right now I would say, if you asked me the three things for which I am most proud I would say it is A Single Man, The King’s Speech and Mamma Mia.Interviewer: How hard was it to get you to do the scene that’s used for the closing credits?Colin: You know what, that may be the reason I did the movie.Interviewer: You have no shame.Colin: Yes. I’m sorry, if one thing has come out of 60 Minutes is that we have discovered, we’ve unveiled the fact that Colin Firth has no shame. I am such a drag queen. It’s one of my primary driving forces in life. You cannot dangle a spandex suit and a little bit of mascara in front of me and not just have me go weak at the knees.

Ellen: So you’ve been married for 14 years to your wife. She’s a beautiful woman. Where did you meet?
Colin: We met in Colombia. We met in Cartagena, which is a staggeringly beautiful city, and full of staggeringly beautiful people. I was on the steps of a church, a very old church in the plaza in this ancient city. And I saw her coming through the crowd and that was it. It was a bolt to the heart.
Ellen: Really? And then you just walked over and started talking to her?

Colin: No, I didn’t move. I couldn’t move. And I realized with trepidation that she was coming closer. I was half hoping that she wouldn’t come my way because I didn’t think I could cope. But, she shook hands and she had this completely guileless air about her. She had no heirs or graces. She shook hands with the people around her, and I was smitten. And she dates it from that moment too, when we actually did shake hands.
